Most marketing, advertising, and PR follows a "push" strategy. No one enjoys marketing that pushes you (pure advocacy). Buzz marketing, however, is completely different. Buzz marketing creates a "pull".
Buzz marketing is: capturing attention of consumers and the media to the point where talking about your brand becomes entertaining, fascinating, and newsworthy. It's about starting conversations.
Join us as we teach you how to leverage the most effective form of marketing on earth.
Speaker: Mark Hughes - Author, Buzzmarketing & Principal, C3 Metrics
Mark Hughes grew eBay's Half.com from zero to 2 million online customers as its VP of Marketing in less than three years. He did that through word-of-mouth marketing and cost-focused online customer acquisition.
Hughes literally put Half.com on the map by convincing Halfway, Oregon to rename itself to Half.com, Oregon...dubbed by Time magazine as "one of the greatest publicity coups" in history. eBay later bought the company just six months after launch for over $300 million.
Hughes' marketing background spans from big brands, running $40 million budgets, to small start-ups where marketing dollars are ever so precious.
Before eBay's Half.com, Hughes' pre-internet resume includes: PepsiCo's Pizza Hut Division; Pep Boys, the automotive aftermarket retailer; and American Mobile Satellite (now XM Satellite Radio).
